Orchestra concert set for March 6
   The Desert Community Orchestra Association will present Lawrence Spector, a student of Pepe
Romero, playing the Rodrigo Concerto and the Desert Community Orchestra in an all-Spanish
concert on Saturday, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the James Monroe Middle School gymnasium.

From left, Deborah Hess, of Southern California Edison presents $100,000 to Cerro Coso President Dr.
Mary Retterer, Valerie Karnes and Larry Board. Retterer said the gift will enable the college to award up to
seven scholarships in perpetuity for students studying renewable energy technology. “It will be a huge
advantage to our students and to the local employers.” Cerro Coso was one of 10 colleges selected to
receive $100,000 gramts from SCE.  The Bernard Osher Foundation will contribute an additional $50,000.
