Belva Jane Moore
Our beloved mother, teacher and friend Belva
(Bea) Moore received her “heavenly transfer”
Saturday, March 6, 2010, peacefully at home,
enveloped in love and prayers of friends and family.
She was 81.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of
the Immanuel  Baptist Christian Center, 1201 N.
China Lake Blvd., Ridgecrest, at 11 a.m. March 27.
Pastor Logan will officiate. Private interment will be
at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest.
Belva was born in Morris, Ill., June 1, 1928, to
her adored parents Clarence and Grace (Thevenot)
Goode. She loved growing up along the Illinois
River, never leaving it in her heart. She kept in touch
with all her childhood friends like no other.
After graduating from Morris High School, she
attended Whittier College in California, receiving a
bachelor of arts degree in English, a minor in
history and a teaching credential.
She met Bill on campus. They married on
March 17, 1951, then moved to Ridgecrest to teach
and raise a family — Mark, born 1952, and Melanie,
born 1954. Later Ken Helm came into their lives,
followed by Roger Helm. Bea had a great capacity
for love and many were to call her “Mom.”
      An accomplished singer, musician, songwriter,
playwright, actor and journalist, she’d lay it all aside
to be called teacher.
Belva loved God with all her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband of
more than 55 years William M. “Coach” Moore,
granddaughter and grandson-in-law Daniel and
Stephanie (MacArthur) Southworth and son-in-the-
Lord Ken Helm.
She is survived by her bother Gary (Gloria) Jenson of Algonquin, Ill., and their children and grandchildren,
son Mark (Kim) Moore of Apple Valley, Calif., daughter Melanie (Rob) Kahley of Inyokern, son-in-law Steve
(Carol) MacArthur, son-in-the-Lord Roger Helm and daughter-in-the Lord Pat (Ron) Ryan, all of Ridgecrest.
Also surviving her are grandchildren Kris Moore, Marquise (Alex) Barron, Heather (Sean) Oney,  Mary
(Mike) Powell,  Shannon (Susanne) Kahley and Kelly (Scott) Milan; great-grandchildren Ariana and Kaitlyn
Barron, Brook Oney, Bryce and Kyle Powell, Erick Kahley and Malia and Scotty Milan; nephew Bob Moore and
family; and niece Margaret Ann Bidek and family of the Pittsburg area.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to Sanderson’s Health Services,  Dr. Jo, David and Chalise Neipp,
Ron and Gwen Willet, Kathy Musgrave, Gary Charlon and Jane McEwan.
Arrangements were by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
