Cherokee citizens, self-declared Cherokees, and anyone interested in forming a Cherokee Community in
the Ridgecrest area are invited to attend a meeting March 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pizza Factory meeting room.

The Ridgecrest Chamber Music Society will present the Felici Piano Trio plus guest on Sun., Mar. 21, 4 p.m.
at the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church.

Felici Piano Trio to perform
The Boys & Girls Club of Southern Sierra is holding a grand opening celebration of its newly refurbished
Teen Center, “J’s Place … Where hope begins.”
The event will be held March 24, 5-8 p.m. at the Teen Center, 131 S. Warner St.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the club’s many programs for the Indian Wells Valley’s
youth, and how they can help with the mission.
Beverages and hors d’ oeuvres will be served. The public is invited.
Grand opening set for J’s Place
Members of the Big Band X-Press sport a St. Patrick’s Day theme for the Jim McLane Memorial
Scholarship Dance set Saturday night from 8-11 p.m. at the Kerr McGee Center. Shown are six members
of the group (from left) the late Jim McLane, Greg Velicer, Joe Klissus, Scott Rogala, Stan Ricker and
Sam Haun. The band will perform familiar tunes by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Les Brown, Count Basie,
Tommy Dorsey, Harry Connick Jr. and more. Tickets for this scholarship fund-raiser are $20 per person
at the door. Admission includes free desserts, door prizes and dance lessons with Ken Sanger beginning
at 7 p.m. A no-host bar and coffee will also be available.
Radio host Norm Schilling will lead the IWV Water District’s
Xeric seminar Saturday, March 27, at the Home and Leisure
Show. His presentation will begin at 1 p.m. For information

Follies, the 18th of these fund-raising events put on by the
Ridgecrest Chamber of Commerce. Crowds flocked to both
the 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. shows, which were held at
Mesquite Hall, Desert Empire Fairgrounds.
