Ridgecrest Republican Women, Federated will host guest speaker Ron Schiller, chairman of the High
Desert Multiple Use Coalition at a Sept. 17 luncheon in the banquet room of Victoria's at the Heritage, noon to
1:30 p.m.
The coalition is a Ridgecrest- based organization concerned with land-management issues related to
public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, and other federal and state
agencies.
Schiller has participated in numerous official work groups, technical review teams and training sessions
organized by BLM and the Forest Service since 1984.
He is a founding member of the Ridgecrest BLM Citizens’ Review Committee, serving since 1990, and
was appointed to the California BLM Desert District Advisory Council by Department of Interior Secretary Gale
Norton, serving two three-year terms.
In addition, Schiller is vice president of the Indian Wells Gem and Mineral Society and past director of the
California Wildlife Federation and California Sportsmen’s Lobby.
