Betty Jo Dill
Betty Jo Dill died on Jan. 14, 2012, at Bakersfield Heart Hospital. She was 88.
Services were held Jan. 24 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Trona. A reception followed at
the Trona Senior Center, and burial took place at the Searles Valley Cemetery.
Betty was born Sept. 9, 1923. She graduated from high school in 1941 in Long Beach, Calif.
During World War II, she flew cargo planes with supplies to bases in the U.S. She later was
manager of supermarkets for many years. She came to Trona in 1960.
A past president and treasurer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter in Trona, Betty was also a
longtime member of the Trona Senior Center. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by sons Ronald Dill and wife Angela of Trona and John Keefer of California;
daughter Bobbie Dill of Trona; sister-in-law Margie Brooks; grandchildren Lisa, Ronald R., Tony,
Caron and Tina Dill of Trona and Bakersfield and Sharon and Christine Keefer of Minnesota;
great-grandchildren Hannah Dill and Beth Keefer, and great-great-grandchildren Kelso and Nathan.
The Dill family would like to thank Aunt Margie Brooks, Janice and Wayne Rivera, Anita Assard,
Mary Evans, Rick Boykin, Dennis and Priscilla for their kindness and support. Thank you to the Senior
Citizens, including Arlene Lape and the ladies; Bakersfield Heart Hospital and Holland & Lyons
Mortuary for all their loving help, and a special thank you to Kenny McCurdy.
