Shown above at Crossroads Community Church are, from left, are workshop participants Pat Rogers, Joy
Adams, Kevin Seymore, Nancy Keeting and Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D., grief counselor. For the Grieving and Those
Who Support Them, an educational two-day workshop by Wolfelt was well received by almost 200
attendees. This event, held Feb. 2 and 3, was designed for individuals experiencing the loss of significant
family or friends as well as professionals caring for bereaving people. The workshop was offered at a
significantly reduced price thanks to financial sponsorship by Holland & Lyons Mortuary, Indian Wells
Valley Ministerial Association, Operation Family Fund and generous individuals. Continuing resources for
bereavement support are available in Ridgecrest through Marilyn Ball, a certified bereavement
companion. Her education, under the leadership of Wolfelt, is through the Center for Loss and Life
Transition and Colorado State University. As a community service, a free 12-week series based on Wolfelt’
s material is provided several times a year. The next 12-week session begins on Feb. 28. For more
information, call Crossroads Community Church at 760- 384-3333, or call series leader Marilyn Ball at 760-
608-0992.
